Welcome to Pitch and Stitch, the online home of knitters who camp and campers who knit.
Our inaugural event will be held at Abbot's House Farm campsite in Goathland on 15th - 17th September 2017. This site is a beautiful greenfield site right in the heart of the Yorkshire Moors and next door to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. During the weekend we will be able to enjoy the beauty and peace of the countryside whilst knitting and waving at trains!
The aim of the weekend is to get cracking with our knitting projects in the beautiful countryside while making new friends in a relaxed and cosy atmosphere. On the Saturday afternoon, we will be providing an afternoon tea from one of the local bakeries and in the evening there will be a chance to toast some marshmallows around the camp fire.
To add to the close-knit feel of the group, we are offering a knit along kit as an optional extra for those who wish to participate, simply add this as an option when you book your pitch.
We hope this event is one that everyone can enjoy - there are plenty of outdoor adventures to be had for those who wish to accompany knitters. From excellent hiking trails to local cafes and bars, the small village of Goathland is a lovely place to explore. Nearby towns of Whitby and Pickering are host to restaurants and delightful shops, not to mention the beach and associated amusements on the coast in Whitby.
Any camping unit is welcome - from the smallest 1 person tent to the largest Winnebago or Bus (yes, really!) we can accommodate them all. Dogs, pets and their responsible owners are most welcome.
The campsite is accessible by public transport, the Yorkshire Coastliner bus serves the village of Goathland and connects to national rail services in Malton, Sleights and Whitby.
If you don't fancy camping, but would just like to sit in the countryside and knit for the day, day passes are available which include afternoon tea and toasted marshmallows. Alternative self-catering accommodation is also available, please see the Abbot's House Farm website for further details.
